Winter Update

I finished my finals. I had Christmas in Draper with my nephewss. I got sick. And now I'm in La Mesa, California, where there is no snow and a loving mother to take care of me. It's a win win.

I'd like to invite everyone to check out this amazing little greeting card generator from XM Radio. It was made by none other than my close friend and former art director Chateau. You can choose your holiday scene, characters, music, and message--all generated from scalable black and white line drawings and yellow blinking XM Radio logos. Notice the subtle reference to the upcoming Flaming Lips film Christmas on Mars. I wonder how that got in there!?

Sunday morning Jake hooked us up with tickets to the Mormon Tabernacle Choir concert featuring Sissel. Yeah, I didn't know who she was either, but apparently she's big in Norway. She should be big here though too. Her presence is amazing!

The Last Class Of My Life

Today I went to the last class of my life. It was the culmination of 18 years of education. To commemorate the event, I took a picture with the last teacher of my life, Flash ninja Brent Barson. Notice the beautiful BYU cougar on rainbow background behind us. That's what happens when you are a design professional.

Gobbledygoodness

I've had many great Thanksgivings in my day. There was the time when I ate at the famous Café Tacuba in Mexico City with my folks. There was the time when I got caught on tape using my hands to put food on my fork after it fell from my plate. And who could forget last year's trip up to Ogden to visit the Nelson family?

Well this year definitely ranks among the best Thanksgivings ever. Since the grandkids live in Utah now, Mom and Dad came up from San Diego for the occasion. We played our traditional family soccer game. We ate our traditional turkey dinner. And the morning after, my nephews gave me their traditional wake-up pounce. Does life get any better?

For some reason I have suddenly become fascinated with family history. While Dad was in town, I took the opportunity to go with him to see the tomb of our ancestor Gilberth Haws in the Provo Cemetary. Gilberth is my great-great-great-grandfather. He came to America from England after converting to Mormonism and settled here in Utah.

Chateau in the house

Saturday was the big birthday shindig for Yancy and Adrienne. Chateau in New York wanted to go so badly that I just had to chip in and help him get a plane ticket. He looked great even despite the jetlag.

Tuesday I got to play photographer for work. We hosted a Hot Tamales® eating contest in the Wilk for our "Front Row Fanatics" promotion. Here are some favorite shots from the event.

Chilean Ring Painting

This weekend was great. I went up to Salt Lake to visit my friend Percy, pictured below. Believe it or not, he's half Chilean. (Not all of us halfies are blessed with olive skin.)

Saturday night, neighbor Leslie came over to watch The Ring with me. She's a huge fan of the film and has been to all of the locations of the film. (It was filmed in and around Seattle.)

On Sunday I went over to Katie's house so we could paint. Drawing inspiration from Urban Outfitters designs, I drew up some geometric flowers in pencil. Now we are giving them some life with acrylic paints. Here in the photo we see Katie and Ashley exploring their inner Picasso.
